Enneagram Assessment
A shared language for how your client is wired, and how your whole team fits together.
For coaches and consultants who work with individuals and teams, the Enneagram Assessment turns a powerful but often fuzzy framework into a clean, report-driven starting point. Your client completes an online questionnaire of 27 questions in 5 to 8 minutes and receives a personal 13-page report that ranks all nine types, names their dominant type and wing, and maps their growth and stress directions. Run it with a whole team and we deliver a team report that puts every team member on one map. You stay the interpreter and the strategist. Esperto runs the assessment engine and the report delivery, with no platform subscription and no certification requirement.

What the Enneagram Assessment measures
The Enneagram describes nine core personality types, each with its own driving motivation, characteristic strengths, and predictable blind spots under pressure. Most people recognize themselves clearly in one type while carrying traits of the neighbouring "wing". The Esperto Enneagram Assessment scores a respondent across all nine types, identifies the dominant type and wing, and maps the growth and stress directions that show how a person tends to behave at their best and under strain. It gives the coach a structured, repeatable entry point into a conversation that would otherwise rely on intuition alone.
The nine types
Type 1 - The Reformer
Principled and improvement-driven; reveals the pull to do things right and the inner critic behind it.
Type 2 - The Helper
Relational and supportive; reveals how a person earns connection by meeting others' needs.
Type 3 - The Achiever
Goal- and image-driven; reveals motivation around success, recognition and performance.
Type 4 - The Individualist
Identity- and meaning-driven; reveals the search for authenticity and what feels missing.
Type 5 - The Investigator
Knowledge- and competence-driven; reveals how a person guards their energy and seeks understanding.
Type 6 - The Loyalist
Security- and trust-driven; reveals how a person handles risk, doubt and commitment.
Type 7 - The Enthusiast
Possibility- and variety-driven; reveals the pull toward options and stimulation, and the avoidance of limits.
Type 8 - The Challenger
Control- and intensity-driven; reveals how a person asserts, protects and takes charge.
Type 9 - The Peacemaker
Harmony- and stability-driven; reveals how a person keeps the peace and where they go along to get along.
Typical use cases for coaches and consultants
- Open a coaching engagement with a shared language for how your client is wired.
- Surface the motivation behind a behavior pattern instead of debating the behavior itself.
- Map a leadership team so members understand each other's drivers and stress responses.
- Use the team map to see which Enneagram voices are missing in a team, and turn that gap into a succession or hiring conversation - a conversation, not a selection criterion.
- Pair with 360 or culture data to explain the "why" behind the numbers.
- Run early in a development journey, then revisit to frame growth conversations.
Which Enneagram assessment should you choose?
The Enneagram itself is an open model: nobody owns the nine types, and several good assessments are built on them. Which one fits depends on how you coach, so here is our honest take.
The Esperto Enneagram Assessment is the right fit when:
- You want a lightweight instrument you can deploy this week: 27 questions, $25 per assessment, no certification and no subscription.
- Your goal is a strong, structured conversation with an individual or a team, not a psychometric deep dive.
- You want a clean 13-page personal report plus a team map you can put on the screen in a team session.
A deeper instrument such as the iEQ9 serves you better when:
- You need subtype-level depth and extensive psychometric validation for intensive executive development work.
- Your client expects a 20 to 40 page individual report, and you are willing to complete a multi-day accreditation before you can use the tool.
We would rather you pick the right tool than ours. If your practice is built on Enneagram depth work, get accredited on a deep instrument. If you want a fast, honest starting point that a team actually talks about, this one was built for exactly that job.
Looking for something else entirely?
The Enneagram answers "what drives this person". Two other instruments in the Esperto toolkit answer different questions, and it is worth knowing which one your engagement actually calls for.
When you need scientific weight: Big Five and HEXACO
Some engagements call for an instrument that holds up when a client's HR director asks whether it is validated. The Big Five (IPIP-NEO-120) takes 120 items in about 15 minutes and reports five domains with thirty underlying facets, scored as percentiles against research norms. HEXACO adds a sixth dimension, Honesty-Humility, which is the one that tends to matter most in leadership and integrity work. Both are in development; you can join the waitlist for early access.
Join the waitlist →When the work is depth with one senior leader: Pathfinder
Pathfinder was built by Bill Isaacs, founder of dialogOS. It maps a leader's energies across four quadrants, Visionary, Relational, Performance and Insight, each carrying an archetype, and scores twelve patterns across them. It deliberately does not sort your client into a category: it shows which patterns tend to lead, what follows when they do, and where the same strength turns into a limit. Your client spends 15 to 18 minutes and receives a report of around 19 pages. Unlike the Enneagram it is certification-gated, so you complete the Pathfinder Practitioner Certification first.

Invite and assess
You send your client the assessment link. They answer the questionnaire in 5 to 8 minutes. No setup work on your side.
Instant scoring and report
The engine scores all nine types, identifies the dominant type and wing, and maps growth and stress directions, then makes a clean, Esperto-branded report available in the portal right away.
You debrief
You walk your client through the report and turn the type insight into a development conversation. The tool gives you the structured starting point; the judgement stays yours.

The Enneagram Team Report: your whole team on one map
The team report exists because coaches asked for it. The individual reports land well, but the real conversation starts when they come together. So when your team members complete the assessment, we prepare an 8-page team report with you: a team map that shows every team member by name at their type, keeps ties and second voices visible, and names the types where the team has no voice at all.
The map does more than show who is on the team. It shows which Enneagram voices are missing, so the team can decide how to cover that gap: in how they work together, in who takes which role, or in their next hire. The report frames that as a conversation, not a selection criterion.
Format - 8 pages, landscape, built to be projected in the team session
The team map - every team member by name at their type, ties kept visible
Quiet zones - the types where the team has no voice, named honestly
Conversation agenda - discussion questions you can facilitate without Enneagram certification

I really like the way this is laid out. I can see using it with a team and building communication plans around the insights it provides.

A shared language coaches actually use
A few words from coaches and consultants who use the Enneagram Assessment in their work.
From the field: a US-based Scaling Up coach recently ran the assessment with a complete leadership team. The reports rang true for the team, and the crash course and facilitator guide that come with the tool were enough to facilitate the whole session without prior Enneagram expertise.
“
I like the way you have presented it. It resonates well with my understanding of the Enneagram, and I think you have done a good job of making the most important points available in a succinct way.

Frequently asked questions
Who is the Enneagram Assessment for?
The Esperto Enneagram Assessment is built for coaches and consultants doing individual, leadership and team coaching who want a clean, report-driven entry point into a client's motivations and patterns. It works for one-on-one coaching and for mapping a whole team.
How long does the engagement take?
Completing the questionnaire takes your client 5 to 8 minutes (27 questions), and the report is available instantly in the portal. That means you can debrief in the same session you scheduled, with no setup work on your side.
In which languages is it available?
The Enneagram Assessment is currently available in English. As demand grows, we add other languages quickly on request, so if you need a specific language for a client, just ask.
What does my client receive as a deliverable?
Your client receives a personal 13-page Enneagram report that names their dominant type and wing, ranks all nine types by match percentage, and maps their growth and stress directions. The conversation starts from a clear, structured picture instead of a single label.
How is privacy handled?
All assessment data is hosted in the Netherlands and handled fully GDPR compliant. Responses are used to generate the individual's report; nothing is shared without consent.
Do I need to be certified to deploy this with my clients?
No certification is required to use the Esperto Enneagram Assessment with your clients. A crash course and a workshop facilitator guide are included, and in practice they are enough to run a full team session without prior Enneagram expertise.
How does pricing work, and what is my margin?
The Esperto partner rate is $25 per assessment, with no subscription and no minimum volume. You charge your client your own rate for the assessment and the debrief, and the difference is your margin.
Can I combine this with other Esperto assessments?
Yes, the Enneagram Assessment combines well with other Esperto assessments. Many coaches pair it (individual motivation and patterns) with Pathfinder for depth work with a senior leader, or with Culture Clarity™ when they want to connect individual drivers to the wider team and culture picture. If you need percentile-level psychometric depth, our Big Five and HEXACO instruments are in development.
What is a good Enneagram assessment for business coaches?
A good Enneagram assessment for business coaches is one they can deploy without certification, at a per-client price, with a report the client actually reads. The Esperto Enneagram Assessment is built that way: an online questionnaire of 27 questions, a personal 13-page report that ranks all nine types and names the dominant type and wing, at $25 per assessment with no platform subscription.
What is the best Enneagram assessment for team coaching?
The best Enneagram assessment for team coaching depends on the depth you need. If you want a lightweight instrument you can run with a team this week, the Esperto Enneagram Assessment takes 27 questions per person and comes with a team report that shows every team member by name at their type on one map, including the types nobody on the team carries. If you need subtype-level psychometric depth and are willing to complete a multi-day accreditation first, the iEQ9 is the most comprehensive option in the field.
Is the Enneagram suitable for team development?
The Enneagram is well suited to team development. When every team member completes the assessment, the shared type language gives the team a way to talk about motivations, stress behavior and collaboration patterns, and the Esperto team report turns the individual results into one team map that also shows which types are missing from the team.
Let's talk about how the Enneagram Assessment fits your practice.
A short discovery call is the fastest way to know whether this is the right tool for your next engagement. We'll ask how you work with your clients, what outcomes matter, and whether a team map would help your next team session. Then we'll be honest about whether the Enneagram Assessment is the right match, or whether something else in the Esperto toolkit, or even another Enneagram instrument, fits better.
